S'cuse me?
SO when I returned to my car after doing some errands in Harvard Square I found the following hand-written note under my windshield wiper.
Your candidate is a socialist
He believes in big spending programs that help even the rich.
He will raise your taxes more and more for bigger government.
You will lose your freedom.
So, my two Howard Dean stickers on my little beat up car (named Oscar) inspired this note written on a little piece of paper.
Firstly, My candidate isn't even a candidate anymore...(goddamned, don't remind me, I'll get all melancholy just thinking about it.)
Secondly, he is SO not a socialist. He is a democrat. He is amazingly fiscally conservative and he believes in a balanced budget. Now, that may mean a bit more in taxes but honestly if that means everyone gets healthcare and an education that will be worthwhile, I'll pay a little more. As I am poised to lose my job in July, I find that my healthcare will cost me $380 smackeroos a month. Dude, I'd rather have universal healthcare than be paying that kind of money.
The thing is investing some tax dollars to make our country more livable and to encourage more equality is SO worth it.
Oh and this privatized of certain things can really be bullshit. Case in point, my ASTRONOMICALLY high gas bill. What the fuck am I spending $500/winter on gas for? TO stay warm yes...BUT I am also paying for those energy companies corrupt big wigs. Yup we little peeps are lining the pockets of oil and gas company swindlers. It is so entirely unacceptable. It just essentially a private tax that never comes back to help ME.
AND what the fuck, I mean the alternative candidate and current leader is WASTING GAZILLIONS of dollars on killing people in Iraq...yeah, I'll take taxes, better roads, better educated Americans, healthier Americans and happier Americans.
Come on, it's just NOT that complicated.
And to that random ass note leaver...as far as "losing my freedoms" under the leadership of Howard Dean, THAT'S JUST WRONG. I have already been losing my freedoms one by one under this current administration. As governor, Howard Dean supported civil unions for gay couples in Vermont(which paved the way for Gay Marriage in Massachusetts) when it was NOT the popular thing to do. He did it because he knew that everyone deserves the same rights and freedoms under the law no matter what race, religion, sexual orientation, hair color, political persuasion...EVERYONE deserves an equal representation by our laws.
So stupid note taker...go back home and do something more constructive than trying to convince me of shit that is way off base and just plain wrong. GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
